The photographic career of Mark Curtis of Design Zero is quite amazing, as one critic recently wrote:
"(he) bought his first camera a couple of years ago, did a couple of shoots and in the space of only a few months emerged into the marketplace with a fully formed totally original, utterly unique photographic style - so far in his short career he has created a body of work that is gritty, startling, beautiful and arresting... if you saw the story in a movie - you wouldn't believe it."
Having bought his first camera in 2006, and having idly uploaded a few images onto the internet - Mark Curtis quickly found himself being commissioned to work for a number of international record labels and fashion magazines. He now finds himself at the vanguard of a "new photographic artcore" movement which is fast emerging from the UK and quickly finding critical favour not only in Europe but also in Japan and the USA.
The images are extremely edgy, leftfield, highly dramatic and often challenging - a strong theme of urban decay and loneliness runs through the works - those that love the work of world famous photographers such as Corinne Day, Guido Argentini and Ellen Von Unwerth will doubtless find his work extremely attractive.
Mark himself is notoriously shy of publicity and admits that he finds the attention "all a bit embarrassing really". He is in his mid 30's and lives in Cambridgeshire in the United Kingdom.
Mark Curtis has always kept his commercial/commissioned projects entirely separate from his own fine art photography portfolio - so we are delighted to be able to offer his portfolio work for sale on an entirely exclusive basis. His portfolio is quickly finding favour with the casual art buyer and his limited edition print releases are set to be extremely sought after investments for the more serious art collector.
